LaMa Walks

“Lama” is a Buddhist monk in Nepali language. It is also a common last name of a specific ethnic group in Nepal: Tamangs. In ancient times, Tamangs were warriors and considered to be migrants from Tibet. The name “LaMa Walks” comes from the last name of the Founder and Director of the company, Rajesh Lama, who also belongs to the same ethnic group.

Among Nepal’s breathtaking mountain scenery, LaMa Walks stands out as a leading trekking company, providing a wide variety of exciting trekking and outdoor experiences. It was established in 2015. Whether you want to explore the renowned Everest region, immerse yourself in the cultural and ecological richness of the Annapurnas, visit the sacred Gosaikunda Lake, or trek along the lesser-known Kanchenjunga paths, LaMa Walks has trips to suit your adventure style and level of experience. Beyond being a service provider, LaMa Walks is a social enterprise that actively supports the growth and advancement of sport climbing in Nepal, especially through the empowerment and sponsorship of female climbers.

Furthermore, LaMa Walks expands its dedication to outdoor education initiatives aimed at college and high school students. The objectives of these programs are to promote learning about culture, the environment, and leadership skills. Your trekking adventure will be safe, exciting, and professionally guided by a team of experienced and environmentally aware staff members at LaMa Walks. This makes them the best option for exploring Nepal’s natural beauties and wonders.

Meet the super-duper team of LaMa Walks

Lama navigated the ever-changing Covid requirements with ease, leading us on a challenging trek through Nepal's rugged beauty. After this experience, I won't need to look for another trekking guide again.

LaMa Walks is guided by three core values

Safety

At LaMa Walks, your safety is our priority. Our insured, qualified staff will guide you on every trip. We urge guests to have travel and medical insurance, share relevant details, and disclose any medical conditions in advance. Always follow your guide’s instructions and inform them before taking any medication during the trip.

Respect

At LaMa Walks, guests must respect staff, fellow trekkers, and local communities. Share any special needs, like dietary requirements, before your trip so we can accommodate them. Once your trip begins, the plan must be followed, and guests must stay with the group, except in emergencies.

Responsibility

LaMa Walks follows a "leave no trace" policy and provides reusable water bottles, avoiding single-use plastics. Our staff receive fair wages, aligned with industry standards. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required one month before your trip to secure staff availability. No refunds are given after the trip begins, but a full refund is provided if LaMa Walks cancels the trip.

These values influence our company policies, as well as our code of conduct. LaMa Walks policies and code of conduct outline the expectations of both clients and LaMa Walks in any adventure. All LaMa Walks guests will be expected to adhere to these, and sign a copy of it prior to their trip.
