Every season in the mountains teaches something different. Autumn 2025 taught us patience. Political unrest across Nepal brought our operations to a standstill, forcing us to cancel all planned journeys. While the trails remained quiet, the season offered space to reflect, recalibrate, and prepare for what comes next.
Autumn is traditionally one of the most anticipated trekking and expedition seasons in Nepal. Stable weather, clear mountain views, and vibrant trails usually define this period. Autumn 2025, however, unfolded very differently.
Due to political unrest across Nepal, all scheduled LaMaWalks trips for the season were cancelled. It was not an easy decision, nor one taken lightly. Each journey represented months of preparation, coordination with local teams, and commitment from participants who were ready to travel. Pausing everything was difficult, but necessary.
Choosing Responsibility Over Momentum
In times of uncertainty, continuing operations would have meant compromising on the principles that guide our work. Safety, duty of care, and responsible decision-making remain non-negotiable at LaMaWalks. While the mountains themselves were unchanged, the broader context demanded caution.
Cancelling trips meant disrupted plans and real impacts on our teams and partners. Yet it also reinforced a core belief: meaningful travel, education, and expedition work can only exist where responsibility comes first.
The People Behind Every Journey
This pause affected more than itineraries. It impacted our guides, porters, educators, logistics teams, and local partners—people who form the backbone of every LaMaWalks experience. It also affected participants who had invested time, trust, and anticipation into their journeys.
Staying connected during this period mattered. Conversations continued, reflections were shared, and lessons were gathered quietly. The stillness offered perspective on how deeply interconnected our work truly is.
Lessons From a Quiet Season
Autumn 2025 became a season of testimony, not defined by summits or miles walked, but by resilience and clarity. It reminded us that progress is not always measured by movement. Sometimes it is measured by the ability to pause, reassess, and return stronger.
This time allowed us to refine programs, strengthen safety systems, revisit academic frameworks, and plan with greater intention. Adaptability, so essential in the mountains, proved equally essential off the trail.
Looking Ahead Spring 2026
As we turn our focus toward Spring 2026 in Nepal, we do so with renewed optimism and preparedness. Nepal remains what it has always been: a place of powerful landscapes, deep learning, and transformative journeys.
Spring 2026 is not just a return, it is a continuation built on stronger foundations, clearer intent, and a deeper appreciation for every journey that unfolds as planned.
Moving Forward Together
We are grateful to our community, partners, and participants for your patience and trust during a challenging season. When the time is right, we look forward to returning to the trails- responsibly, prepared, and together.
Spring 2026 programs are now in planning.
